Stillness is the first step to clarity and to connecting with our personal power. This still place is the beginning of real, long lasting change as opposed to “quick fix” hype. This group is a time to sit together in silence, which can hold everything. Our purpose is to create a place for personal insight to manifest through healing and/or personal growth. There will be time for sitting in silence followed by a short talk and group sharing on a topic related to the practice of mindfulness. Discussion will include the power of stillness from a medical perspective (lowering of blood pressure and alleviation of stress); current research and it's implications relative to the treatment of depression, anxiety, pain management and more. We will explore the works of  Jon Kabat-Zinn,Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society (CFM) at the University of Massachusetts; Charles Raison and Tenzin Negi and Susan Bauer-Wu from Emory University as well as many more. The universal practice of meditation has it's sacred place within all the major religions of the world; within Christianity (“Be Still and Know”) as well as in Native American practices and in the ancient Eastern philosophies and Buddhism as brought to the Western mainstream through the works of Deepak Chopra and Thich Nhat Hahn among others. A list of suggested readings will be available.

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN STRUGGLING WITH DETERMINING THEIR NEXT BEST STEP

The focus of this process group is living intentionally and applying the principles of mindfulness to the way we conduct our lives. Some of the common threads in this group are clarifying values, determining how they're manifesting or not in our lives; relationships; difficulty with defining our dreams or moving from where we are to where we want to be; skill development and group support. We meet for an hour and a half and the cost is $45.00. Many insurance plans, Mastercard and Visa are accepted. An individual consultation is required to determine together whether this would be a good fit for each potential group member and for the group as a whole.
